The United Nations International Day of Peace is observed around the world each year on September 21. Established in 1981 by a unanimous United Nations resolution, Peace Day provides a globally-shared date for all humanity to commit to peace above all differences and to contribute to building a culture of peace. The School Sisters of St. Francis, St. Francis Center for Renewal and Monocacy Farm Project invite you to join us in prayer for peace and non-violence in our hearts, in our neighborhoods and in our global community.

• The St. Francis Center for Renewal chapel will be open for private prayer all day beginning at 9 a.m.

• The St. Francis Center for Renewal kitchenette and parlor also will be open all day to share a cup or tea or coffee and conversation with the retreat team. Just drop by.

• An interfaith prayer service filled with contemplation and song will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the White House Chapel. The prayer service will begin with a procession from the St. Francis Meditation Garden behind the convent into the White House Chapel. The gathering will be followed by refreshments and fellowship with the Sisters and friends at St. Francis Center for Renewal.
