Monocacy Farm Project
Situated on 53 acres of rolling lawns and virgin woods in Bethlehem, Pa., the 10-acre Monocacy Farm is owned and managed by our sisters as an organic and natural agriculture demonstration and production farm. The project includes a pick-your-own program, community gardens, educational programs for children and adults, and a community service production farm dedicated to supporting soup kitchens, food pantries and homeless shelters.
By using land and resources at Monocacy Manor in Bethlehem, Pa. in the Franciscan tradition, our Monocacy Farm Project models stewardship and care of the earth, engages and educates the community, and — perhaps, most importantly — serves those in need.
From April through October each year, the ministry yields low-cost organically-grown produce that feeds the needy through community partnerships with food pantries, shelters and soup kitchens. Community gardeners, youth campers, retreatants, church and school groups, organizations and individuals also find fulfillment in these fields by taking part in sustainable gardening, educational programs and other projects that give back.
Your dollars help to maintain this land, fund enhancements like outbuildings and equipment and educate the community about the bounties of God’s greatest gift to us.
