Sister Frances Pastusek

August 5, 1928 - October 10, 2018

Sister M. Frances (Dolores) Pastusek died on October 10, 2018, at Holy Family Manor in Bethlehem, Pa. She was 90 and in her 69th year of religious life.

Sister entered the community in Pittsburgh, Pa., from Holy Trinity Church in Perth Amboy, N.J., in the Diocese of Trenton in 1947 and professed her first vows in 1949 at Mount Assisi Convent in Pittsburgh, Pa. She received a bachelor’s degree in education from Seton Hall University and a master’s degree in library science from Villanova University.

Sister spent many years as an educator and, later, served in religious education, pastoral ministry, outreach to the poor and as a librarian in several locations.

Sister Frances was a hardworking, organized person who would often rearrange a closet or pantry on a whim, leaving little notes so others could decipher her latest organizing scheme.

She is remembered for her relentless energy, yet peaceful presence. Sister savored time among God’s people and sharing stories of those she encountered. She was truly happy in her life as a ministry partner with Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Elizabeth (Zemko) Pastusek; brothers Joseph, John, Steven and Michael; and sisters Stephanie Sucheski, Helen Grygo and Ann Ostrowski. She is survived by her religious community, two nephews, a niece and numerous friends.

Sister Frances is buried in St. Frances Cemetery at Monocacy Manor in Bethlehem, Pa.
