This new year is designated as Jubilee Year 2025, an event of great spiritual, ecclesial, and social significance in the life of the Church. With the theme Pilgrims of Hope, Pope Francis urges us to “fan the flame of hope that has been given us and help everyone to gain new strength and certainty by looking to the future with an open spirit, a trusting heart and far-sighted vision.”
Clearly, he wants this Jubilee Year to especially fill us with hope. He laments that sadness is too widespread today. But as Christians, we are a people of sure and steadfast hope — hope that does not disappoint because God is faithful to His promises. Thus, the Pope says, “May the way we live our lives say, ‘Hope in the Lord! Hold firm, take heart and hope in the Lord!’”
