Sister M. Roberta Ann, 91, a member of the School Sisters of St. Francis, United States Province, in her 73rd year of Profession, died on Monday, March 3, 2014, in Pittsburgh, Pa.

Sister entered the community from Holy Family in Erie, Pa., in 1937 and professed her first vows in 1941 in Mount Assisi Convent Chapel in Pittsburgh. She received a bachelor’s degree in education from Mount Mercy College (Carlow University) in Pittsburgh, Pa.

During her years of ministry, Sister Roberta Ann taught the primary and middle grades in many of our parish schools where our sisters ministered in Pennsylvania, Texas, Oregon and New Jersey. From 1985 to 2002, she used her clerical skills in schools, the office for the Pittsburgh Catholic Cemeteries, and the former St. Francis Academy in San Antonio, Texas, where she ministered from 1992 to 2002.

She spent the next eight years doing community service in San Antonio, Texas; Uniontown, Pa.; and Mount Assisi Convent in Bellevue, Pa. Sister Roberta Ann spent her last years of retirement in Antonia Hall in the ministry of prayer and always ready to help when needed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Matthew and Mary Carnicky, and brothers John and Frank. She is survived by her religious community, sister-in-law, cousins and a step-niece.

Sister is buried in St. Francis Cemetery at Mount Assisi Convent in Pittsburgh, Pa.
