St. Francis Center for Renewal’s second annual Holiday Craft Fair & Bake Sale was a resounding success on November 5, boasting twice as many crafters as the inaugural event in 2015.

The gymnasium in Mullen Hall in Bethlehem, Pa., was filled wall to wall and then some with crafters of all kinds – from quilters and candlemakers to jewelers and metalworkers. Creative folks from throughout the Lehigh Valley showed off their handiwork, many of whom have already reserved their tables for the third annual event in 2017!

“I am so thankful to have been part of your craft show. I had a very successful selling day,” said one vendor. “But more than that, I was surrounded by a loving, supportive and accommodating staff.”

Baked goods homemade by Sisters Loretta Motko, Marie Bernadette Kelleher and Rosemarie Bartnicki sold out almost immediately. A basket raffle added this year also was popular

If the crafts and goodies weren’t enough, strolling accordionist Sister Mary Martha Zammatore entertained guests throughout the day, and Santa and Mrs. Claus – played to perfection by Jerry Herauf and Sister M. Virginelle Makos – gave the event extra Christmas character.

"Please, please tell Sister Mary Martha that she made our day. What an absolutely lovely, fun time, and we enjoyed her serenading all day,” said one crafter. “And Santa and Mrs. Claus visiting the crafters? Loved it!"

Crafters displayed many religious themed items, including statues, quilts and wall-hangings. Sister Mary Martha Zammatore entertained the crowd with her accordion. A local candlemaker displayed his work. Ornately decorated clothing was an eye-catching draw. Jerry Herauf and Sister M. Virginelle Makos as Santa and Mrs. Claus pose with a vendor.
